Greetings from Tink World!
Do you ever stop and think about why we do the things we do? Bone Broth has really been on my mind the last few weeks. So, I thought I would do a little research and share a small portion of my findings with you.
First of all, bone broth is delicious. That’s nothing I had to research, just a personal opinion. It also has health promoting aspects. Homemade broths made with bones are a great source of minerals and calcium. When you make bone broth in slightly acidic water (addition of vinegar) and slow cook for hours, the minerals in the bones start drifting in to the broth creating a mineral rich food for you that helps boost your immune system.
Did you know that gelatin in homemade broth helps you digest protein from meat and plant sources? It is also an excellent food for those recovering from illness. Homemade broth is a source of many important minerals, amino acids, health building gelatin and an excellent addition to your diet. It’s also handy to have on hand to use in soups, sauces and gravies. There’s nothing better than coming in and warming a cup of broth on a cold winter’s day.
There are a million reasons to love broth. If you need more inspiration, just head over to Weston A. Price and search bone broth. In celebration of bone broth, we’ll be offering a special on the bones needed to make beef bone broth. Plus, check out our recipe for making beef broth.
As for markets, Team Tink will be at the Decatur Farmers Market on Wednesday, January 22 from 3-6 p.m. Don’t forget that the market has moved to the First Baptist Church of Decatur. There are a lot of vendors there. So, be sure to look for us even if you don’t see the truck! Then, on Saturday, January 25, Team Tink will be at the Decatur Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Also, we’ll be making the Evans delivery on Tuesday, January 21. If you’d like to place an order, you can do so by sending us an email with your wish list or by ordering in our online Farm Store. If you have no idea what you want to purchase, you can just show up and buy from the truck. We’ll have product with us. We’ll be parked by the playground and the Columbia County Library from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Have a great week! We’ll see you at the market!
